The New SsangYong Rexton: Presented Moscow Motor Show 2012
With this development, the 'SsangYong Rexton', a large SUV, leaving behind this model was followed from its origin, the Mercedes ML, moving to look at the immediate family, the SsangYong Actyon Sports, which takes both its new engine as some of its aesthetic elements. The aim is to offer a more versatile model, which will not scare potential buyers both for its size and fuel consumption and emissions.
Deep mechanical changes
The Rexton leaves the engine with which he had counted over recent years, a block of 165 hp 2.7 l was his main banner. In its place comes the 2.0 turbo diesel engine of 155 hp and 360 Nm of torque, the same as the SsangYong Actyon Sports assembled, with a variation that achieves a more efficient behavior, especially asphalt surface to which they are intended mostly this such models at least in the European and Japanese market.
Mechanical changes are not confined to the engine only, but will also affect the gearbox, where you can choose between six-speed manual transmission or automatic with a five-speed connection. There are also variations in traction, which maintains the option 4 × 4-Lo, but now adds a front-wheel drive 4 × 2, further reinforcing the possibility of offering a more consistent behavior with urban environments.
Aesthetic Evolution
although mechanical level is where we find the biggest news of the latter SsangYong Rexton, there are aspects that comment about aesthetics and design. Most SUV line leaves rounded forms, to spend even more stylish and dynamic appearance, finished in the back with some lift, all very much in line with the Actyon Sports.
No leaks so the new SsangYong Rexton this trend dominating the SUV segment and SUVs that tries to reduce volume and provide a more versatile and stylish appearance, as has happened in the evolution of the Mitsubishi ASX and the Jeep Compass for example, in the wake of the success of the Range Rover Evoque. A fad that has settled firmly within this segment, one of the few that keeps rising in the times in which we live, so that no manufacturer wants to stop presenting news in it.
